Hi. I am Lynn Webster, medical director of CRILifetree Clinical Research in Salt Lake City. Physicians have a very limited amount of time to assess patients, but it is critically important that we do a risk assessment. There are tools available. The Opioid Risk Tool and the SOAPP are two examples that help us understand in a very quick fashion the potential risk of somebody developing or displaying aberrant behaviors if they are prescribed an opioid. Once somebody is on an opioid, the COMM is another tool which you can find on Emerging Solutions in Pain website and I think that using a urine drug testing as well as the prescription monitoring tools are very helpful in trying to assess the risk that somebody might display aberrant behavior.
